Come in from the cold for a workshop with Emily Jockel and Luci Jockel, whose Sisterhood: Bodies in Proximity exhibition was shown at TJL during NYC Jewelry Week 2021. Emily and Luci also host our online series A Curriculum on Collecting.
We’ll start with a meet and greet over coffee and learn about how collage can be a method of making, a part of the design process, a form of play, a meditation, or an unconscious exploration. We’ll look at collage artists and others who utilize collage in their practice, and hear from Emily and Luci on how they use collage in their own work. With an emphasis on play and exploration, we’ll work through a stream of consciousness method of making, then move on to making our own. There will be an hour break for lunch, followed by time to create both two dimensional and three dimensional pieces using jewelry. We’ll provide materials, but you may wish to bring your own, such as magazines, paper, pens, markers, paint, items from nature, photographs, print-outs, textiles, bits of jewelry, beads, etc.
Cost: $60. Space is limited.
